Whoops

No picture with this post, thankfully.

Our hectic lives (new house, old house, studying, etc. etc.) means that some details are getting a little overlooked lately. Like, Monkey's shorts. He is tall enough for 5T clothes, but the taller he gets, the smaller he gets around the waist. So we bought 5T clothes and washed them and sent him out into the world. This works out fine for jeans and sweatpants, which have elastic waists and can often be adjusted. Shorts... they have elastic but can't be adjusted at all, and aren't as stretchy as the sweats, maybe?

So today when Monkey got up from the floor at school, his pants fell down around his ankles. And everyone got to see his Lego Star Wars underpants, which are even baggier since they're size 5-6. He acted out the entire scene for us at dinner; with hands over mouths and audible gasps for his teachers, and hilarious guffaws for his friends.

This is quite possibly the best thing that has ever happened to him.

We don't want to perpetuate body shaming, and I certainly can appreciate how great it feels to make people laugh. We just need to have some conversations about how you need to keep your pants on while being entertaining.

Skills of a photographer

Since the acquisition of a fruit based phone in December, phone pictures are happening much more frequently than camera pictures (or video). Monkey knows very well how to get into the camera and make movies and take pictures... usually of himself. With his finger over the lens. On purpose.

Cousins at the museum

Recently we had a chance to meet RHCR and her new baby brother at the kids museum. A good time was had by all.

Monkey loves to visit Bumblebee, who is one of his favorite autobots. The robot "talks" to us periodically to encourage us to buy a museum membership. Monkey uses this as evidence to support his theory that transformers are real.

New Zoo!

We have a new zoo! It's taking up quite a bit of our time and attention right now, but you can read along at our new blog, At Home In the Park. Monkey is really enjoying the new neighborhood and is very eager for renovations to wrap up so we can move in - probably another month or two at this point. We have next door neighbors who have kids who are 5 and 7 and the three of them are loving their playdates!

While the immediate consequences of this new house are causing Monkey a lot of upset and disorder, long term we feel really good about where we will be and how we will live. Many positive things in the future.
