Spring Break Part III
Mrs. Z took all these pictures with her phone and her new photo app (Picplz) so please forgive all the funny processing. We spent the morning at the beach and had a bike ride in the afternoon, followed by dinner on the pier. It was quite a big day, and Monkey didn't quite make it all the way through - about 20 minutes into our bike ride he said he needed "to take a little rest" and spent the next 90 or so minutes bobbing his head on the back of Mr. Z's bike.

Spring Break Part II
So, I know you were promised beach pictures. But the first day we were there it was too cold for the beach, and so we went to a battleship instead. Oops! So beach pictures tomorrow.

In case you are in need of a dangerous jungle gym that can also shoot planes from the sky and kill people on islands, we recommend the USS North Carolina.

Spring Break Part I
A few highlights of our trip, beginning with the Hampton Inn in West Virginia. They now have a picture next to each room number, so that if you forget the number perhaps you can remember the picture that belongs to your room. With no finagling, bribing or pleading on our part, we were granted that most rare of luxuries: The Train Picture Room.
Next, we spent Sunday with Aunt B and her church, attending the dinner portion of their youth group meeting with our trusty dinosaur ball. Thankfully the weather has been uniformly nice, if not hot.

There is a park right next to Aunt B's house, which was originally a farm and has now been landscaped with lots of walking and biking paths as well as terraces, walls, swings and canopies. We stopped here after youth group (or rather, while the youth group was actually supposed to be paying attention).

We are Very Boring
We haven't done much lately: play with trains, visit the children's museum, go to Target. But we did have a playdate this weekend some of Mrs. Z's best friends and their conveniently close in age little boys! The boys had a great time fighting over trains and refusing to eat dinner. Or maybe that was just Monkey. At any rate, they were hilarious and we can't wait to get them all together again:
Monkey made this face for about 45 seconds before the picture was taken, it means "CHEEEEEESE"

Winter Hardy
Icepocalypse 2011 has left us in possession of our electricity, heat, and French toast supplies and yet as it leaves it is taking our tolerance for each other's activities with it. Truly, the weather has been nothing compared to the challenges of two adults attempting to actually work from home while entertaining a housebound toddler. We are so glad to have the playroom functional for just such occasions.

Monkey has made a valiant attempt to interest himself in trains. Such hard work. ( <--sarcasm). When that doesn't work out, he opens up pockets or drawers or what-have-you and explores their contents. Sometimes this has happy results, such as the discovery of butterfly hair clips. We'll just pretend that this is an early sign of spring.

Dinner a la Monkey
We have been homebodies this past month, as we continue to battle virus after cold after infection. It's pretty boring, honestly. But it has been nice to have some time to just hang out together between disinfecting and restocking the Kleenex. It's also given us some time to find more creative activities here at home. For instance, Monkey now has his first chore - feeding Dog. He is quite good at eyeballing the right amount of food, even if his scooping skills are somewhat...irregular. He's also started cooking dinner for humans:

His custom recipe for dinner included flour, oats, water, and red, green and yellow food coloring. Most surprising was that Dog actually really liked it, and ate about half before we got it away from him.
